DANCEOKE POP
Laura is obsessed with understanding where things come from, how references are composed, and the idea that everything is already made. Like a true millennial, her references range from Britney Spears to Marisol, and she mixes them with contemporary dance icons like Trisha Brown or Àngels Margarit. Yes, my brain works by making random hyperlinks.
A danceoke works like karaoke, but instead of copying songs, you copy dances. This danceoke is a side activity to the show POP, where we dive deeper into this millennial's struggles. But now, in this danceoke, we meet to “drown our sorrows,” distort what we've been given, compose references however we want, and dance—above all, dance.
An activity for all audiences that lasts about 20 minutes. You don’t need anything. But if you show up looking like Eva Nasarre, even better. Leg warmers are welcome. Leotards and maillots too. As well as whatever else you want. We’re not here to feel embarrassed. We’re here to dance by copying a screen.
